I first met Melissa and Iain three days before their wedding, these two are fabulous, very busy people – Melissa met with me in the middle of fitting a shower at her mum’s guest house (yes, fitting a shower three days before her wedding! It was for wedding guests I believe) and Iain joined us once the job was finished. We talked for hours around their kitchen table; about their wedding and about just about anything else you can imagine, it was wonderful.
The day of the wedding started sunny and bright and as Trusty Assistant and I headed down to the other end of Cornwall I was excited to see what the day had in store. I found melissa at her kitchen table enjoying a meal with her family and close friends before the ceremony and set about photographing a few of the day’s details starting with her beautiful bouquet which had a vintage feel. The meal finished, the laid back little cottage soon began to bustle with preparations as Melissa changed into her wedding dress and the wedding car arrived – a brand new, white London taxi!

Melissa’s bouquet, including peonies (my favourite!).

Ready to go in to the church.

Melissa walked down the aisle to the church organ and a trumpeter which sounded fabulous (and brought about my “quote of the day”).

I was fairly restricted as to where I was allowed to be in the church but the light in there was beautiful.

I love it when the guests sing along heartily (this was a special guest who had come a long way to be at the wedding – look at her amazing earrings!). This wedding ceremony also featured some incredible musicians and soloists.

A kiss at the door – leaving the church as husband and wife.

Confetti moment!

The bridesmaids.

By the time we got to the beach for photographs, the weather had started to change but the rain held off for long enough for us to spend some time getting some images…. I really wanted to do a blog post of pictures of these two laughing, they do that a lot and I hope they always will but I have selected a few other images not dedicated to giggling! Great car isn’t it?!

A quick stroll down to the water ended in Melissa paddling, the changing weather made for a wonderfully refreshing 2o minutes on the beach.

I love this image.
The wedding reception was in a traditional marquee on kitted out with bunting and fairy lights, there were great speeches, food by The Little Cornish Curry Company and then music, fantastic music, provided by the groom himself with help from his amazing band. I don’t think anyone noticed that it was by this point pouring with rain outside… it changed some of our photo plans which was a shame but in the big scheme of things not important at all. This was a full on celebration and being there made me so happy – I think everyone in attendance felt the same way.

The marquee during the speeches.

I would just like to mention how hard it was to stand next to this cake during the speeches, it looked and smelled incredible and the temptation to break off a bit of the chocolate was definitely there… obviously I didn’t though!

The boys from The Little Cornish Curry Company putting the final touches to the rice – a fantastic choice for a wedding, great food and wonderful staff going out of their way to look after guests.

First dance to Boogie Shoes, these two could really move!

Okay girls, imagine that your new husband is not only in a great band (and I really mean great) but he serenades you with Isn’t She Lovely as a surprise at your wedding reception…. that is what Melissa got and is what is happening in this image.

There’s that trumpet again! I really like this image and I have to get a link up for the band because they truly were amazing (all nine – I think there were nine – of them).

The party all got a bit much for this little one!

Unlike Melissa’s cousins who were still going strong when I made my leave! Ha!!!
Melissa and Iain, thank you for letting me be part of your celebrations and for everything since then, keep laughing and enjoy your lives together. x
